The New Hampshire LotteryAll About the New Hampshire LotteryThe New Hampshire Lottery was created in 1964 when the state held a special ballot vote, which allowed all the cities and towns within New Hampshire to vote for or against the lottery. With 198 communities approving the lottery they were able to release their first game which was a Sweepstakes on March12, 1964. The first year of the New Hampshire lottery was a huge success with net revenue of $5.7 million. In 1977 they started their own Daily Numbers games with the Pick3 and Pick 4 games released in 1985. Ten years later they joined both the states of Maine and Vermont to offer players the Tri State Pick games which at that time held draws in the evenings only. These games were an instant hit, and because of the popularity they increase the frequency of draws from once a day to twice a day with the first draw held during the mid day and the second in the evening. Since then they have created over 70 various scratch tickets, currently have five online games to choose from including the Powerball and have generate over $930 million for the State General Fund over the last 40 years. These funds have been used towards public education. Megabucks GameThe Megabucks game was created in 1985 and is available in New Hampshire along with Maine and Vermont. This was the first multi-state lottery game created in the United States and offers players a progressive jackpot game. Each jackpot is always guaranteed a minimum of a $500,000 prize pool and will continue to grow until someone has won the jackpot. The Megasbucks Game can be purchased at any lottery retailer at a cost of $1 per ticket. To play, simply choose six numbers from 1 through 42 with the option to play up to five lines per ticket. Once this is complete an additional number will be drawn from the remaining 36 numbers with a top prize of $10,000 using all five numbers and the bonus number.
