The Vermont Lottery Commission was established in 1977 and was given a start up grant of $250,000 to get the lottery up and running. By February 1978 the first game “Green mountain Game was introduced and was a huge success so much so that the Vermont Lottery released its second game less than three months later which was an instant win scratch off. Even though the lottery is over 20 years old, they still operate with a close nit family of employees. The staff consists of only 20 full time employees and five commissioners who oversee all lottery sales throughout the state.
Their mission was to be able to design, regulate, promote, distribute and sell lottery games of chance within the state of Vermont. They have done this while setting up a plan to make the lottery a profitable organization while making contributions to the education Fund and to help those with problem gambling.
The Tri-State Megabucks is a multi-state lottery with sales not only in Vermont but also Maine and New Hampshire. To play this game, simply choose six numbers between 1 and 42. Each game costs $1 and you can play as many as five games on one ticket. You can play up to 40 games in advance as well as choosing a quick pick if you would rather not pick your own numbers. To win you must match all six numbers that were drawn that night which will award you the top prize – the MegaBucks Jackpot. Second place prize awards $10,000 by matching the first 5 numbers plus the bonus ball.
Tri-State Paycheck is a new online game giving players the once in a life time opportunity to win $2,500 a month for the rest of their life. This game is available twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays with draws held in the evenings.
To play simply select five numbers between 1 through 39 with the option to play up to five games per ticket. Each ticket costs $2 to play. During that nights draw if you are able to match all five numbers you will win the jackpot and receive a weekly check worth $2500 from the Vermont Lottery. Your odds in winning any prize is 1:8
Pick 3 is Vermont’s daily game which is now available twice a day. If you miss the mid-day draw you have a second chance to win in the evenings. With the Pick3 you can bet as little as $0.50 right up to $5 per board. To play you will need to select three numbers between 1 through 9 and then determine how you want those numbers to be played. You can also choose a quick pick although you will not be able to play three-way or six-way boxed games on a random ticket.
Straight – To win you will need to match your three numbers with the three numbers drawn in exact order. Top prize of $500 on a $1 bet.
Box (6-way) - Match all three numbers in any sequence for a top prize of $84
– A 3 way is when you choose three numbers with two of them being identical. As an example 112 would be a 3 way. Match these numbers in any sequence for a top prize of $184
Front Pair/ Back Pair – match any two numbers in exact order for a top prize of $50 on a $1 wager. Front pair is the first two numbers while Back Pair is the last two digits.
Tri-State Pick 4
The Tri-State Pick 4 game is the same as the Pick 3 except you will be selecting four numbers instead of three which means an increase in prizes. This game is also multi-state and provides two draws per day. The cost of each ticket ranges from $0.50 - $5 with up to 5 games played per ticket. First you will need to select 4 numbers from 1 through 9 and then decide how you would like to play those numbers. The maximum prize available to be won based on a $1 wager is the Straight which will give you a $5,000 jackpot.
Straight - To win playing a straight you must match your three numbers exactly as was drawn.
Boxed (24-way)- is four numbers matching in any sequence.
BOX (12-way)strong> - If your four digit number contains two identical numbers match the winning number in any sequence you will.
BOX (4-way) - If your 4-digit number containing 3 identical digits matches the winning number in any order, you win $1,250.
The Vermont Lottery also offers players a ‘Players Club’. This allows you to register for free on the Vermont Lottery website and you will be provided with up to date news and promotions offered from the lottery. You can also select which games you play and have the lottery inform you of those nights winning numbers.
